How they are made — Dining tables

How they are made

Every table is finished with oil rather than lacquer. Oil penetrates the timber instead of forming a film on top, so the oak keeps its texture underhand, and a scratch is repaired locally — sand the spot, re-oil it, no need to refinish the whole top.

Tops come in four shades: natural oak, light brown, brown and dark brown. Legs are made from the same oak in the matching shade for a quieter, uniform look, or in black metal when you want contrast — Vento and Terra are available both ways.

The timber comes from responsibly managed forests and carries FSC® certification. In practice that means we can document the origin of every batch, which is a requirement for export into the European Union.

What size table do six people need?

Allow 180 × 90 cm for six, counting about 60 cm of width per person. If the table sits against a wall or doubles as a work surface, 200 × 100 cm gives noticeably more room.

What is the difference between a 2 cm and a 4 cm top?

A 2 cm top is lighter and visually slimmer; Classic and Oval Classic use it, in lengths up to 220 cm. A 4 cm top, used on most other models, reads as more substantial and spans further, so tables from 250 to 300 cm are made only with it. Rio, Nexus and Nodus also come in a 4 (2+2) cm build, which shows a 4 cm edge but weighs about a third less.

Do you make tables to measure?

Yes. Alongside the standard sizes listed here we build to agreed dimensions, including top shape and choice of leg. Tell us the room and the number of seats and we will propose a size.

How do you care for an oiled oak table?

A damp cloth and a mild, alcohol-free cleaner cover daily use. Once or twice a year, re-oil the top with a furniture oil — that keeps the surface resistant to stains and moisture.
