Solid oak stair treads
Treads are cut from the same glued panels as our worktops, in dimensions taken from your staircase. Thicknesses are 2, 2.5 and 4 cm.
A standard timber staircase with stringers at the usual spacing takes the 4 cm. The thinner 2 and 2.5 cm are used when cladding existing concrete stairs, where the tread does not carry the load itself.
Moisture content is 8 ± 2 %. On stairs this matters more than on any other product, because a tread is fixed rigidly — if the timber moves after installation, the joint with the stringer starts to creak and open.
You choose between AB clear, knot-free, and AB rustic with stronger figure. We supply them raw or oiled, depending on whether your fitter does the final finish after installation.
